Castles:Subjects
Subjects represent the inhabitants of the Castle. They can be partially managed, but they also take some actions for their own reasons, which leads to various situations or requests for resolving a situation via Rulings.

Subject Statistics[edit]
Name[edit]
All Subjects have a name, which consists of at least a given name, and sometimes a family name. A full list of possible names can be found at Subject Names.
When a new Subject is born, it will always be assigned a race-specific given name, but will inherit the last name of a random parent, regardless of race. This way you can have Subjects in your castle that have the last name of a race they are not part of.
You can rename any Subject by tapping the quill icon in the top left corner of the flip side of their card.
Health[edit]
Health describes a Subject's physical wellbeing. Subjects whose health drops to 2 are considered weak, and are less effective at their work and cannot be sent on quests. Health cannot drop below 2, and Subjects cannot die because of a lack of health. Health can be restored at a Buffet or the Baths.
Stamina[edit]
Stamina increases weapon damage.
Magicka[edit]
Magicka increases spell and elemental damage.
Age[edit]
From the age of 16, Subjects are considered Adults, and can be assigned to a work station. Once they turn 65, Subjects are considered Elders, and can no longer make children at the Bed. They usually die of old age between 70 and 100.
Traits[edit]
Subjects can have one to seven Traits, which determines their proficiency at different tasks, relations to other Subjects, and other characteristics.
Status[edit]
Ruler[edit]
The mighty ruler of this castle.
The Ruler is a Subject that is fully controlled by the player, by making rulings at the throne, and conditionally managing the Castle. The Ruler cannot be assigned to Production Work Stations, but if the Ruler does not sit on the Throne, requests for rulings will still come, and during the resolution of these requests, the character will temporarily return to the Throne.
The Ruler has their own separate Happiness, which does not change with the Happiness of Nobles or Commoners.
Nobles[edit]
Nobles include all of the ruler's family members, illegitimate children excepted.
Despite the game's description, in addition to family members, the Nobles also include others who are somehow close to the Ruler. They do not differ from Commoners in terms of labor at Work Stations. It is from among them that the next Ruler will be chosen after the current one dies.
Too distant relatives of a Ruler may lose their Nobles status, and there is also a case when completely new Subjects (but only Lore ones) receive Nobles status. [verification needed]
Commoners[edit]
Commoners include subjects that are not nobles, the ruler, or illegitimate children of the latter.
Illegitimate[edit]
Illegitimate children of the ruler include their children born out of wedlock, assuming the ruler is married.
Notes[edit]
- All Subjects have a birth date listed on their character card. With the exception of the castle inhabitants at game start, these dates are randomly generated.
- After reaching a population of 200, Subjects assigned to a Bed will refuse to have more children.
