Stenar Ceno

Stenar Ceno, an Imperial citizen, is a budding adventurer who is paying off his debts by working odd jobs in Bruma

After waking up early at 7am, Stenar eats breakfast and lounges at home for a couple of hours until 10am. He then heads to one of the tables outside the Jerall View Inn, where you'll find him quaffing mead until 3pm, when he moves inside. He will be found here until midnight, enjoying food and drink at the counter, when he heads to bed.

Stenar deviates from this schedule twice. On Tirdas and Turdas, he can be found working at the Bruma Stables between 12pm and 6pm, while on weekends he's at Northern Arms between 8am and 2pm, honing his smithing.

Stenar wears simple farmer's clothes and boots, and is armed with an iron dagger. He also carries the key to his house and a random selection of gold, lockpicks, gems, jewelry, food and drink.

Dialogue[edit]

When first meeting you, Stenar will greet you enthusiastically:

"Hahahaha! Stenar Ceno at your service! I'm no Nord, but I'll keep drinking mead until I become one!"
"A daughter/son of Skyrim! My heart gladdens to see you."
"Remember, a life full of adventure is the only life worth living."
"What a day to be alive! Doesn't that cold mountain air just get your blood pumping?"
"Hail, traveler!"
Are you an adventurer?
"Well, I would be, but, unfortunately, I got some debts to pay off. I've been doing odd jobs around town to help raise the septims."
What kind of debts?
"Sorry, lad/lass. That's something a man like me keeps private."
I understand. Your business is your business.
"Damn right it is."
Oh, c'mon. It might feel good to get it off your chest. (Persuade)
(Average Persuasion check pass) "You know, I think you're right! Don't tell anyone though, okay? Well, you see, my friend, for as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to go to Skyrim. The Nords, their culture, their history... it all just appeals to me. Unfortunately, something's always kept me tied here to Bruma. First, it was my ma, who was sick for a long time, and then it was...well. Let's just say that my appreciation for Nord culture led to me sharing their fervent worship of a... certain god, shall we say. And, unfortunately, someone found out. In the end, this someone promised not to sell me out to Armion. But in return for this "favor", they require a very large sum of money. So that's the debt I owe now. I've been trying to work it off ever since then."
Maybe I can help you with this debt.
"Lad/Lass, I'm sure you get all sorts of people coming to you asking for help, but I got myself into this mess and so I'm going to get myself out. ...Thanks for the offer, though. You are a true friend."
I'm sorry to hear that.
"Yes, well, I got myself into this mess and I'll get myself out of it. Don't worry too much about me!"
(Persuasion fail) "It might feel good to get punched in the face for being nosy. Would you like to find out?"
Maybe I can help you with this debt.
"Lad/Lass, I'm sure you get all sorts of people coming to you asking for help, but I got myself into this mess and so I'm going to get myself out. ...Thanks for the offer, though. You are a true friend."

Bugs[edit]

  • On Tirdas and Turdas, Stenar was meant to enjoy the Jerall View bathhouse between 12pm and 3pm, but as it comes lower in the load order to his stables package, he will never visit. ?
  • As it is possible to repeatedly ask Stenar about his debts and to persuade him to reveal what's behind them, you will be able to infinitely level your Speech skill by talking to him. ?
  • It turns out that it is Bentior, publican of The Restful Watchman, who is blackmailing Stenar with something, but as the budding adventurer never visits the inn, you'll never hear this exchange:
Stenar: "Here. This is what I've made thus far. Are you satisfied?"
Bentior: "Stenar, Stenar, Stenar... This doesn't even begin to cover my silence."
Stenar: "Bentior, you can't--"
Bentior:"Ah, ah, my friend. Better watch that temper of yours. You wouldn't want me to go blabbing to that Thalmor freak about your little secret, now would you?"
Stenar: "...No."
Bentior "That's what I thought. Now, I expect I'll be seeing you again next week, yes?"
Stenar: "You...you're a bastard, you know that?"
Bentior "Hey now. Times are tough, pal. I'm just taking advantage of every...opportunity. Now move along. I got customers." ?
