Amaund Motierre was a member of the Motierre family,[1] a very old and powerful Breton family firmly established in Cyrodiil.[2] The family used its influence to secure ties to the Elder Council. He took part in the conspiracy to assassinate Emperor Titus Mede II.[1]

History[edit]

Around 4E 201, Amaund took part in a conspiracy with the Dark Brotherhood to assassinate Emperor Titus Mede II, using an amulet specifically crafted for Elder Council members to pay for expenses.[3][4][5] He performed the Black Sacrament and then contacted the Brotherhood's agent. Alongside his loyal bodyguard, Rexus, who had pledged to serve Amaund Motierre until his final breath, he traveled to Volunruud, where he sealed the deal with the Brotherhood.[1][6] The Dark Brotherhood speculated he was motivated by a desire to gain more power.[7]

He asserted, however, that in 3E 41, Emperor Pelagius Septim I was murdered in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City, struck down by a Dark Brotherhood assassin. His death brought about a crucial shift in Imperial policy. He compared the current situation to one from the early Third Era and stated that there are those who seek a similar change.[1]
