Rose of Sithis (Oblivion Remastered)

The Rose of Sithis is a powerful magical enchanted arrow utilized by the Dark Brotherhood.[1][2][3] It is specifically designed to instantly kill a designated target upon direct impact, and has no magical properties when used against any other individual. However, the Rose of Sithis is limited in power, as it cannot penetrate armor and is effective only if it strikes an unarmored part of the intended victim.[1][4] If the target was missed, the enchantment would be expended.[5] Its exact connection to Sithis beyond sharing his name is unknown.[3]

Some members of the Brotherhood believed that the souls of those slain by the Rose were sent directly to the Void.[6] The right to wield the Rose of Sithis was regarded as a great honor among the members of the Brotherhood.[5]

History[edit]

The Black Hand authorized the use of the Rose of Sithis for certain special assassinations.[1]

In 3E 433, Lucien Lachance of the Black Hand authorized a member of the Cheydinhal Sanctuary, holding the rank of Eliminator, to use the Rose of Sithis in the assassination of Adamus Phillida,[1] a retired Imperial Legion commander known for his outspoken opposition to the Dark Brotherhood and his vow to expose the organization and bring its leaders to justice. Whether the Rose was ultimately used in his assassination remains unknown, but Phillida was nonetheless killed by the Brotherhood.[7][8]
