Lore talk:Magical Blue Bars
Lore Page?[edit]
Not sure this constitutes a lore page. They don't have a real name and seem pretty gameplay oriented. Course, I haven't read the Daggerfall Chronicles so if there's something in there that says these are prominent, real, named objects then I'd be happily proven wrong. But as it is I think this belongs more as a Daggerfall page. Mindtrait0r (talk) 00:33, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- I would agree, this seems to be a gameplay mechanic and not a lore object. Jeancey (talk) 18:02, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- It's definitely a game mechanic that is given a lore explanation through the chronicles, like many things. It would be best to turn it into a redirect to a broader magic article. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 18:47, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

- They are only referred to such in a step-by-step walkthrough from what I can see.

- "When you come to an elevator shaft, (H)ride it only to the mid-level exit. (I) Get off quickly and pull the lever in the room. (J) Then go back to the elevator and ride it all the way to the top. (K) Once up there, you will see your goal. You want to go through the doorway bordered by the banners. (L) Unfortunately, it is out of reach behind magical blue bars. To reach the lever that lifts the bars, you will have to find and pull a series of levers in exact sequence."

- "Once inside the hole in the wall of stars, you will find yourself in a series of long tunnels. (J) They eventually lead to a lever and some more of those blue bars. Pulling this lever opens a small section of hallway with three other levers in it. (L) Each lever raises and lowers a set of four gates farther down the hall.Click on each of the levers once. Now click on the first lever (farthest from your goal) again. Down at the end of the hall is yet another lever. (M) Pulling this will open the gate on your starting island. (A) You can now walk in and get teleported to the next chamber."

- "Now it is time to jump into the pit. Teleporting to the starry chamber places you on a floating island pierced by a huge sword. The door high up on the north wall is your ultimate goal. (C) Unfortunately, the way is blocked by magical blue bars. Far below you is a giant crossbow, which will become important later."

(←) Per the above discussion, this is a gameplay mechanic and thus shouldn't be in lore. Further, it doesn't really seem to be a major mechanic of any sort within Daggerfall, so a full page probably isn't needed in DF space either. Perhaps a note on Daggerfall:Dungeons, or just references on those pages where the bars appear, they are fairly self explanatory in context. Jeancey (talk) 19:23, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

- Ah man, I didn't get any notification this discussion happened. Welp, too late now I guess. I thought it helped display the technological applications of magic in the setting. Doesn't need its own page, but a footnote somewhere to replace it would be nice, yeah?TheRockWithAMedicineCupOnHisHead (talk) 23:20, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
