Quest-Related Events[edit]

The Code Book[edit]

Speak with Sottilde to try and persuade her into giving you the code book:

  • code book
    • [If Disposition is less than 70.] "What code book? I wouldn't talk to you about that sort of thing."
    • [If Disposition is at least 70. Code book has been added to your inventory.] "Okay, friend. You know about the code book. I don't want any trouble with you, so just take it. Just don't tell anyone I gave it to you."

Sottilde will not give you the code book if you are a member of the Thieves Guild:

  • code book
    • [If you are a member of the Thieves Guild.] "Look, %PCRank, I'll tell you what's going on. This code book has dirt on the Camonna Tong and the skooma trade. As soon as we get it figured out, we take it to the authorities and take over the trade ourselves. The Fighters Guild works for the Camonna Tong since Sjoring Hard-Heart took over. You have to decide where your loyalties lie, %PCRank."

If you mention the code book to her while having it in your possession, she will try to get the book back:

  • code book
    • [If you are a member of the Thieves Guild.] "That code book belongs to the Thieves Guild now, %PCName. Put it down, walk away, and I'll forget about this."
    • [If you are not a member of the Thieves Guild.] "What, *that* book? I just found it in the street. It's gibberish. Since it can't possibly be of any value to you, why not let me keep it?"
    • Return Book
      • [Code book has been removed from your inventory.] "Thanks, %PCName."
    • Keep Book
      • "What use is it to you?"

After you have given the code book to Eydis Fire-Eye, Sottilde has the following to say about the matter:

  • code book
    • "Look, you've got the book. Just leave me alone. It won't do you any good, anyway."
