Aloys Bincal

Aloys Bincal is an Imperial farmer taking refuge at Crestbridge Camp a little ways from his village at Cropsford. Aloys, his wife Callia and his father-in-law Barthel Gernand recently moved from High Rock after purchasing land in the Nibenay Basin with the idea of building their own settlement. However, they are currently having a little trouble with nearby goblins.

When you first meet him at the camp, Aloys follows a very simple schedule: sleeping from midnight to 6am and spending the rest of the day alternating between eating, sleeping or wandering around on a random basis. Once you end the goblin war, along with the rest of the family he will relocate to Cropsford and spend most of the day busying themselves around the settlement. He will only take a break to sleep between 10pm and 6am, which he does in one of the tents before the first building is constructed (though this is affected by a bug) and in the bedroom of the first building thereafter.

Aloys wears breeches, rough leather shoes, and a patched vest. He also carries a meager amount of gold.

Quest-Related Events[edit]

When first arriving at the camp, you may overhear some conversations between Aloys and his wife, which suggest he not at all happy with his situation:

Aloys: "I think we should just pack up and go home."
Callia: "Have faith, Aloys. I'm sure my father will think of something."
Aloys: "Your father was the one that got us into this mess! I'm tired of you always defending him."
Callia: "Goodbye, darling."
Aloys: "I'm running out of patience with Barthel."
Callia: "How are you doing, dear?"
Aloys: "You know what I think. We should go home before the goblins find us and kill us all."

Barthel himself will give you a little background about the settlement, telling you that

"We plan to call it Cropsford. My daugher [sic] Callia, her husband Aloys, and I, came all the way from High Rock to start a new life here."

If you speak to Aloys, he'll say:

"Hello. I hope the goblins along the Yellow Road didn't give you any trouble."
Goblins
"We had just set up at Cropsford when Mirisa came running in. Said goblins were heading our way. We barely escaped with our lives!"
Cropsford
"If you ask Barthel, it's the garden spot of Tamriel. See for yourself. It's just northwest of here. But watch out for the goblins."

Once you've agreed to help solve the group's goblin troubles, speaking to Aloys will have him redirect you to Barthel and make his displeasure known:

"If you need anything, talk to my father-in-law. This whole expedition was his idea."
Father-in-law
"Barthel Gernand. He talked us into selling our comfortable house in High Rock to start a new settlement here in Cyrodiil. He read something about cheap land being offered by the government. Of course nobody said anything about the swarming goblins."

Aloys's displeasure is also clear from how he greets Barthel:

"What is it, Barthel?"

If you ask Aloys about Cropsford after you've ended the goblin war, he'll remark:

Cropsford
"I guess we won't be going back to High Rock after all. Cropsford is going to be our home now, for better or worse."

After the first building goes up, he'll grudgingly admit:

Cropsford
"I'm starting to think this is going to work. Maybe Barthel wasn't crazy to bring us here after all."

His father-in-law will also be pleased:

Cropsford
"I'm happy with our progress so far. I feel better knowing that Callia and Aloys have a home again."

Once the settlement is finished, he will thank you for all you've done:

Cropsford
"I like it here. I really didn't think I would, but Cropsford feels like home now. Thanks for making this possible, my friend."

Bugs[edit]

  • Once the Bincals move to Cropsford, all three members of the family will want to go to sleep at 10pm. However, until the first building is constructed there are only two bedrolls present, meaning one of the family will instead spend the night wandering around. ?
