Oblivion talk:Blades
Someone should write about blades of Oblivion...

Not deployed by Tiber Septim[edit]
as far as i know, they were in charge of the "emperor" since a very very very long time. Before the third eara.
Advancement[edit]
It is said there are no quests associated with the Blades, yet there are various ranks. Are these ranks available to the player? If so, how? --Andi kan 07:46, 1 August 2006 (EDT)
- No. The information on this page is mostly related to Morrowind, and should probably be removed. Somebody needs to redo this page to be appropriate to Oblivion. (There are 3 ranks in the Blades in Oblivion, but only 1 available to the player.) --TheRealLurlock 07:48, 1 August 2006 (EDT)
Faction[edit]
Jauffre died at the defense of Bruma quest and I said no when he first asked me to become member of the Blades. Is it still possible to join the Blades as faction?
- Id say no sorry. -Lordsword 8 08:47, 5 May 2007 (EDT)

- Damn, well, I'm somewhat you can call a perfectionist but I'm not that crazy to start a new character for that. Also, I figured out it's a stupid faction anyway.(Even though I would be as glad as not to join them)Bodyguards of the emperor with ugly armor(Not really ugly when I first saw it). Since there was an option not to join them I feel pretty happy still cos it was meant for the game to either join it or not. I chose NO and thats A OPTION. I HAVE to play games they are meant to be played from myself and since there was an option not to join them, thus not a glitch, I'm glad I'm stiLL playing the game how it was meant to be played. I keep pep-talking myself to stay in a good mood cos I like myself a lot and I also love myself a lot. Anyway, thanks for clearing it up. At least now I have an answer. I give this message from my mom's computer since I am there at the moment, thats why it's a different IP ADREsS! I hate being a bodyguard anyway, I'm free. I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry, I'm in a bit too good mood)
Dude fair enough, but ya gotta love the samurai style sword and armour, nicest looking armour in the non-modded game i'd have to say!
Surely though, you could either spawn jauffre with player.placeatme and talk to him, or use a console command to 'activate' the 'Join the Blades' script? ~ Anon
Grandmasters[edit]
There's three grandmasters in the blades, Achille, Baragon, and Jauffre. Any explanation as to why? Kestral 19:54, 31 October 2008 (EDT)
- Four actually. You forgot Ferrum. The only explanation is that these ranks are more to do with the AI than any genuine rank - only Jauffre has the rank mentioned in-game. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 02:32, 1 November 2008 (EDT)
- Would their rank mean why they refuse to talk with you? Kestral 11:58, 2 November 2008 (EST)
also...there the only breton male blades im pretty sure..as for them not wanting to talk to u the answer that is probly that the creators ran out of stuff to say about cloud ruler and firgured that puttying the same dialogue for the breton blades would save time...but i could be wrong...im pretty sure there are a few other blades wont talk to u some of the imperial ones-LuciusZelgius nov.8.2008
Inability to Join the Blades Glitch, PS3 and PC Problems[edit]
I was reading this page to find out about something in the PS3 version, only to find it completely unmentioned. I know from experience that there's no "Join the Blades" option if you choose to not join them when first asked on the PS3, and I know from other sites that there's only one path of options you can make when talking to Jauffre at Cloud Ruler Temple that allows you to join the Blades. However, I do not know what this dialogue path is, so I cannot add it to the page. So in short, if anyone knows the dialogue path that allows PS3 players to join the Blades, please add it to the page. D: -Andi 17:20, 3 February 2009 (EST)
Separate from the above person's problem, I was unable to get the option to Join the Blades on PC, even after using a charm spell, then even using the console to mod Jauffre's disposition to 100, and various amounts over 40. It probably relates to taking Jauffre with me in combat many times and the unavoidable occasional hits upon him by my character pushing his disposition below 40. But since I still can't get the option to Join the Blades after modifying his disposition, I think this is another unreported bug. Carltonh 16:19, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
A fun little fact[edit]
If you watch the Blades practise for a while during the evening. You will get training in Blade and Block. Hoborobo 15:51, 3 March 2009 (EST)sd
I have ps3 goty and i said no first time but signed up later, so i dont know why this is happening to you, perhaps machine error? my only advice is to reload a previous save and say yes...if you haven't gone to far in the game already ;)
The Blades[edit]
Anyone know anything about the name? The guy who plays Martin (Sean Bean) is a huge fan of Sheffield United, who's nickname is "the blades" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blades#Nickname), with a tattoo of "100% blade". It's probably just a coincidence, but it seems pretty cool to mention it. --LSD 05:18, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's just a coincidence. The Blades were present in Morrowind, before Sean Bean was anything to do with TES. rpeh •T•C•E• 08:09, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Meh, thought so :(--LSD 21:31, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
glathir[edit]
glathir metions in his notes that he knows a dark secret about the blades i know glathir is just a parinoyed wood elf but could he have known something secret about them.--(Theblack7 20:15, 29 October 2010 (UTC))
- As you said, Glarthir is paranoid. I seriously doubt that he knew any dark secret concerning The Blades. --Rigas Papadopoulos • Talk • Deeds • 20:17, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
arena blade warrior[edit]
isn't there a "Former Blade" fighting in the arena, because i remember fighting some guy with blades armour in the arena --Demons Raven 23:48, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, one of the combatants uses a blades shield, katana, and helmet I believe. I added him. --DKong27 Talk Cont 23:58, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Glenroy and Renault[edit]
Just out of curiosity, since Glenroy and Renault are killed off before the tutorial ends, should they not be added to the Former Members list? - Gnasty Gro-Gnorc
- The 'Former Members' Has an asterisk next to it. '* These NPCs are not actually part of the Blades faction, but are included here for completeness.' Is the associated information. Former members are people that are never in the blades but have been/deduced to have been in the blades. -- Thanks --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 18:53, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Nevermind so. - Gnasty Gro-Gnorc
- Suppose you could add a note about them dieing quite so quickly, although its not absolutely necessary. Could be worth a note though, Any thoughts? -- Thanks --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 20:29, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- Oop, sorry I'm late. It's probably not entirely necessary like you said, but I suppose it could be noted. I haven't been here too long so I'll leave it up to you to decide. - Gnasty Gro-Gnorc 20:26, 5 September 2011
