An Experiment with Peace[edit]
After she wakes up once cured:
- Mender Roslenn: "Ugh…my head. Who are you? Did Seraphyne send you?"
When spoken to:
- "Who are you, stranger? And where am I? What's happened?"
- Master Healer Viralaine drugged you. You've been sleeping for some time.
- "Viralaine? Surely you're joking! Why would—wait, it's coming back to me.
I was looking for harpy feathers in the forest. But a bloodfiend attacked me! I fled into this cave, and I found Seraphyne here in a cage. But then … ooh, my head." - Viralaine captured you. He's treating patients with Seraphyne's blood.
- "That's horrible! No wonder I noticed traces of vampirism! Yes, Vampire blood can speed recovery, but it's very risky. I know Viralaine thought our methods were slow, but still ….
We must confront him. Together, if Seraphyne's willing." - I'll talk to Seraphyne.
- "Thank you—my mind is a little foggy yet.
We should head back immediately. I have to check on my patients … and perhaps add Seraphyne to them. I think I can cure her, if that's what she wants."
Speaking to her again before Seraphyne:
- "With all that's happened, I can only hope my patients are going to be all right."
- Do you really think you can cure a Vampire?
- "I won't lie—it's not easy. But there are alchemical methods that have proved effective in the past. It really comes down to the Vampire in question. Does she want to be cured?
I think the answer in Seraphyne's case is yes." - Do you think you'll be all right?
- "If you're asking if I will fully recover, then…I don't know. I need to study the potion Viralaine fed us. I hope so.
Mentally? This betrayal stings. I trusted Alexis Viralaine. We both swore to heal the sick, not make them worse."
After convincing Seraphyne to come to the manor with Roslenn, the vampire will be apologetic for what happened, but Roslenn reassures her it's not her fault:
- Seraphyne: "Roslenn, right? I am…so, so sorry about this. If I hadn't been so weak, I would have…."
- Mender Roslenn: "Everything's going to be fine. Come to the manor. Perhaps I can help you."
- Seraphyne: "Help me? I'm cursed. There's nothing to be done."
- Mender Roslenn: "There are things we can try. Let's talk on the way."
Speaking to Roslenn before setting out:
- "We should go back to Steadfast Manor. I'm anxious to have some words with Master Healer Viralaine. And make him explain exactly what he thought he was doing with those poor souls in our care."
When you return to the manor, Roslenn will confront Viralaine:
- Master Healer Viralaine: "I had to do it, Roslenn! It was the only way to guarantee their recovery!"
- Mender Roslenn: "You were poisoning them, Alexis! Look around you!"
Speaking to Roslenn before Viralaine:
- "You should talk to Master Healer Viralaine. I'd like to hear an admission of guilt from his own mouth."
Speaking to her before Armin:
- "You should talk to Armin. I know he wants to thank you for your help.
For that matter, so do I."
After the quest, she will express her gratitude:
- "You have my gratitude, hero. I doubt Seraphyne or I would have survived if you hadn't come along when you did."
- What will you do now, mender?
- "I must administer more of your antidote to everyone suffering from Viralaine's so-called treatments. And once his evil work is undone, well…there are still the wounds of war to deal with.
I hope to help our patients with those, too."
A Chance for Peace[edit]
When spoken to:
- "The meeting of the delegates is the closest we've come to peace. I don't understand the motivations of anyone who tries to stop it. Fortunately, they have you here to protect them. I believe Lady Arabelle wishes to talk about that very thing."
- How are things at Steadfast Manor?
- "Returning to normal, thanks to you. The symptoms of Viralaine's experiments have faded from our patients. Now they can focus on the conditions that originally brought them to me.
That will be its own struggle. But one we're trained for." - Will you stay at Steadfast Manor?
- "Oh, of course! As long as this horrible war rages, I will help heal the injured. And I believe in Lord Bacaro's dream. Learning about the lives of our enemies offers the best path to peace."
After the ceremony:
- "Quite an honor you've received from these esteemed figures! I feel confident they only know a small portion of your heroics.
If these discussions succeed, we could soon see this war end. No more lives thrown away in the pursuit of power." - How are things at Steadfast Manor? (See the dialogue above.)
