During conversation with her, it is revealed that she receives abuse for her cleaning, particularly from Dark Elves, as well as being called a slave and treated accordingly.

"Someone calls me a slave? They'll find themselves short a few teeth. I'm a hireling, outlander. Learn the difference."

"Got another comment about my cleaning skills? This broom can be used for more than sweeping. Just keep that in mind."
