The Pyrelord

The Pyrelord is a Dremora warrior that serves as the final boss of The Brimstone Den.

Skills and Abilities

Quick Strike

A basic attack where the Pyrelord strikes you with his greatsword, dealing moderate physical damage.

Fire Breath

The Pyrelord breathes fire in front of himself, dealing moderate flame damage followed by flame damage over time. This doesn't have an AoE indicator.

Flame Spout

The Pyrelord holds his blade aloft and shrouds himself in a flaming aura. Three spouts of fire also appear on the outside of this aura that spin, which deal major flame damage if you get hit by them. Keep moving in a circle around the boss to prevent being hit by this ability, and don't stand too close to the boss (read: in his orange shield), or else you'll take major flame damage over time. This ability can cause the burning effect, which deals flame damage over time. While the aura is surrounding the boss, fire balls are shot out from the boss at targets, dealing moderate flame damage each.

Superheat

The Pyrelord plunges his blade into the platform, causing magma to rise over most of the arena. The initial blast deals major flame damage over time if you stand close to him. To keep yourself from burning to death, make sure you're close to the edge of the arena. The circular formation in the southwestern corner and the pit of coals to the west are safe spots where you can stand without burning. Alternatively, you can use the Brimstone Orb that appears to shield yourself.

Ignite

This damage comes from you standing in the lava after the boss uses Superheat. It deals low flame damage over time very rapidly.

Eruption

If the Pyrelord is allowed to ignite all 3 spouts of flame that spawn in the corners of the arena during the Superheat phase, he wreathes himself in fire, dealing major flame damage to you if you're close to him, while a volley of flaming orbs are sent out in all three directions of the arena in a waving pattern, dealing moderate flame damage each.

When he emerges, his sword will be on fire, and he deals a bit more damage. His "Quick Strike" becomes "Burning Slice". This self buff dissipates after a while. To prevent the ignition of the spouts, while buffed from the Brimstone Orb, walk into an ignited corner to sap the fire.

Burning Slice

Modified version of "Quick Strike", a basic melee attack dealing moderate flame damage.

Blazing Strike

An ability gained when in the enhanced state from "Eruption". The Pyrelord delivers a powerful upswing attack with his flaming greatsword, dealing very high physical damage and knocking backward, as well as sending out three flaming swirls forward, indicated by small red circles, dealing moderate flame damage each. This can be blocked.

Summon

At 70% health, the Pyrelord summons a Fire Colossus from a portal located in the lava near the arena. He summons another Fire Colossus when his health falls to 30%. They behave in the same way as the Brimstone Caretaker encountered shortly before this boss fight.

Pyre

The Pyrelord stands in front of a large mound of flaming embers before combat. If you stand in it, you'll take major flame damage over time from "Brimstone Fire".

Damage dealt by standing in "Pyre".

Dialogue

When you engage him in battle, he'll say:

"So, you wish to meet destruction?"

"We shall battle for honor!"

"Come! Test your mettle!"

Summoning a colossus:

"Join me in glorious battle!"

"The servants of Mehrunes Dagon await!"

"Someone wishes to meet you!"

Self-buff:

"I shall blaze brighter than before!"

"An inferno rises within!"

"I become one with the flame!"

Submerging the platform in lava:

"Can you take the heat?"

"The forge never stops!"

"You cannot escape!"

When he dies:

"I shall not be extinguished!"

"My destruction pleases the Exalted!"

"This death is only temporary!"
