Activating the Ayleid pillars

While exploring, Lady Clarisse Laurent mistakenly opened a portal allowing Aldmeri Dominion soldiers to invade the ruins of Salas En. I've agreed to help her close the portal.

2. Retrieve the Ayleid tome.
3. Activate the pillars to enter the ruins.
4. Gain access to the portal chamber.

Detailed Walkthrough

The soldiers emerge from the portal!

To begin, find Lady Laurent at the pathway leading up to Salas En. She will be found kneeling in sorrow next to Mistress Lamae, and will be excited to see you. Accept the task from here, then go up to the camp in the middle of the ruins to find the Ayleid tome. It is found on a table outside Stibbons' tent, who also has a quest available in the same area that you should pick up.

Upon claiming the tome, go to the four pillars spread around the site. There will be many Dominion soldiers around, so it is best to either sneak by them or kill them. When activating each pillar, you will perform a charge of magicka for a couple seconds, and then the pillar will flash and a number of blue welkynd stones will appear around it. Continue this until all pillars are activated.

Speak to lady Laurent, and then meet her inside the the interior of the ruins. The Portal Chamber within is still sealed, so Lady Laurent will ask you to activate the switch deeper inside to get it open. To travel to the innermost chamber, you will have to get past many hostile skeletal soldiers, who can be snuck past or killed. The final chamber is a large room with tiles of constellations and an Orc in the middle (who can be spoken to for another quest), and the switch will be found along the stairs across from him. Activate it, then head back to the start of the ruins.

Lady Laurent will lead you inside the Portal Chamber, and then speak with you before beginning the ritual. Waves of Aldmeri Dominion soldiers will come through the portal while Lady Laurent attempts to translate the phrase properly.

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "All right, let's get this started. Gol … ro … so … me-aka?"

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "Woo hoo! Take that, you damned Elves. Wait. I just lost my place."

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "Alooo-saba … takeo? Takeeeo? Taco? How do you pronounce this?"

Eventually she completes the translation.

Lady Clarisse Laurent: "All right. I think I've got it! Malla Aloo takeo!"

After the portal closes, Lady Laurent will be relieved and will request that you keep this incident quiet. She will then reward you with a piece of armor called the Greaves of Firsthold from a Dominion soldier, and you will complete the quest.
