Haming in Froki's Shack

Gunnar Stone-Eye protecting Haming at Helgen

Haming is an eleven-year-old Nord child who lives in Froki's Shack. Originally from the town of Helgen, he moves in with his grandfather, Froki Whetted-Blade, after Helgen is destroyed. He is the son of the late Torolf and Matlara, who are killed by a dragon during its attack on Helgen. Haming is one of the few people to make it out of Helgen alive after the dragon attack. He is described by Froki as a good and strong lad.

Haming wears red colored child's clothes and a pair of shoes, and is equipped with a simple iron dagger.

Quest-Related Events

Unbound

You first encounter Haming in the opening sequence, expressing his desire to watch the Imperial soldiers and the prisoners at the beginning of the game. However, his father, Torolf, sends him inside:

Haming: "Who are they, daddy? Where are they going?"

Torolf: "You need to go inside, little cub."

Haming: "Why? I want to watch the soldiers."

Torolf: "Inside the house. Now."

Haming: "Yes, papa."

Later, when you encounter Hadvar again after jumping from the destroyed inn, Hadvar is trying to get him out of danger:

"Haming, you need to get over here. Now!"

"That a boy. You're doing great."

Haming runs and makes it to safety but his father does not survive the attack of fire breath from Alduin. Before Torolf's death, he may say to Haming:

"I'm done for, little cub. Go. Run for it!"

"That's it, son. Make me proud."

Dialogue

If you encounter him at Froki's Shack he can say:

"I'm eleven years old, and I could take you."

"Someday I'm going to kill a dragon all by myself."

When spoken to directly:

Do you like living here?

"It ain't so bad. I miss living with my parents back in Helgen, though. Froki can't cook and there's nobody to talk to up here."

Were your parents killed at Helgen?

"Yeah, but don't say anything about it to Froki. I don't think he understands."

Oh, I see.

"It's okay, I know what happened at home. With the dragon and all."

If you ask him to tell you about himself:

Tell me about yourself.

"Froki won't let me hunt on my own yet, but he never shuts up about killing his first stag when he was eleven."

• Many internal names refer to Haming as Torri.
• There are, in fact, two versions of Haming:
  • The first version is encountered in Helgen. He has a base ID of 00013642 and a ref ID of 000AAF98.
  • The second version is the one in Froki's Shack. He has a base ID of 000C029C and a ref ID of 000C029E.

Bugs

• Haming may refuse to speak to you if you have completed Froki's quest.
  • The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.0.4, fixes this bug.
