The Traveler is a Nord vampire you may randomly encounter in cities or settlements throughout Skyrim if you have joined the Dawnguard. He wears hooded black robes, vampire boots (armor version), and vampire gauntlets. When he dies, he drops vampire dust, as well as some various potions. He is initially unaggressive when you encounter him, but says "Die Dawnguard!" and turns hostile when you get close. He attacks using various magic spells, including Summon Gargoyle.
Notes[edit]
- The Traveler is the only vampiric NPC that wears the vampire gauntlets. No other NPC (named or random) wears them.
- He is also the only character to use the Summon Gargoyle spell, besides Harkon in his Vampire Lord form.
- His editor ID
DLC1RadiantDisguisedVampireLord
(among other data) implies that he was intended to turn into a Vampire Lord when attacking, although this isn't the case in the final game.
Bugs[edit]
- When approached, the Traveler may say "Die Dawnguard!" but not attack. ?
- The Traveler detects you at close range even when invisible and fully muffled, a quirk shared with the Traveling Bard vampire and the leaders of hostile vampire groups encountered in the wilderness (but not the other two members of those parties). ?
