Be careful: sometimes the second spriggan that is past the corundum ore will join with the other one and the animal against you.

Also, at the point where the path doubles back (which is just past the corundum ore deposit), if you keep going north instead of heading south, you will plummet off the path and dive into the pool above the skeleton. This isn't bad, as you will end up gathering ingredients in the first cavern that you missed if you precisely follow the path.
