Ruma Soanix, a noble of Old Ebonheart

Ruma Soanix is an Imperial noble who owns a manor in the city of Old Ebonheart. The grand house overlooks the plaza.

Wealthy enough to have been gifted an entire sailboat, Ruma will hold a party during the events of the Thieves Guild quest Happy Birthday, Ruma Soanix, and Cap'n Fentus will send you to infiltrate it. While reputedly paranoid about thieves, Ruma does have a soft spot for entertainers, and will enthusiastically welcome visitors attending under that pretence.

For protection, she wears a Colovian tiger helm and a pair of Nordic fur boots. For clothing, she wears an extravagant shirt and an expensive skirt. She wields an adamantium wakizashi.

Aside from her natural charm and ability to absorb fatigue from others, she knows no spells.

Dialogue[edit]

(If you are doing the House Hlaalu quest 'A New Employment'):
  • job for a scribe:
"Are you crazy? Why would I want to hire a scribe?"

Thieves Guild: Happy Birthday, Ruma Soanix[edit]

  • Greetings:
(Upon first meeting):
"Excuse me, but who are you? I don't recognize you. This party was for invited guests only."
  • I do have an invitation.:
"That's not my handwriting! I didn't sent this invitation to you. So spit it out -- what are you doing here?" (Disposition -10, go back to other choices)
(If you don't have A Forged Invitation):
"Is it an imaginary invitation? You are not holding anything in your hand! So spit it out -- what are you doing here?" (Disposition -10, go back to other choices)
  • [Lie] You did invite me. I'm your friend, remember?:
"Old friends? I think I would remember you. I never forget a face. And I've not drank enough wine to swallow your lies. You're no friend of mine! So spit it out -- what are you doing here?" (Disposition -10, go back to other choices)
(If your Speechcraft ≥ 75 with a 40% chance of success OR your Speechcraft ≥ 100 with 70% chance of success):
"Old friends, you say? Hmmm... Yes... I do seem to recall you now. We met at the Leyawiin Ball four years ago, didn't we? Or at the grand opening of the Museum of Tamrielic Artifacts? Either way, I think I did in fact invite you here. Forgive me, %PCName, my dear friend. I seem to have had a little too much wine... Please, stay and enjoy the party." (Disposition +10)
  • [Lie] I was hired to perform in this party as a surprise for you.:
"An entertainer! Oh, what a marvelous surprise! Gather round all! %PCName here is going to perform for us! Now... what is it that you do?"
  • I'm going to dance the handy high-kick.:
"The handy high-kick? That's the traditional Dark Elven dance, isn't it? How exotic! The stage is yours."
  • Continue:
(If your Acrobatics < 55):
"[You leap up and down, kicking as high as you can. Midway through the final kick you lose your footing and fall on your back hitting a serving table in the process. Goblets and wine bottles fly in every which direction. Your audience doesn't look too impressed.]"
  • Continue:
"Awful, simply awful! Were you deliberately trying to ruin my party? You're clearly not a real entertainer. Spit it out -- what are you doing here?" (Disposition -10)
  • I was just nervous. Let me try again. Or try something else.:
"No, no, no. Absolutely not. You are a rubbish performer, %PCName. And you've officially ruined my birthday. Why are you here?" (See 'My mistake. I'm leaving' and 'I'm here to steal' choices)
(If your Speechcraft ≥ 40 with a 80% chance of success):
"Absolutely not! I think everyone has had enough of your entertainment. I should throw you out... But I suppose it's not a crime to be a rubbish performer. You can stay and enjoy the party. But don't expect to be paid from that miserable performance, %PCName. You're not an artist." (Disposition +5)
(If Disposition ≥ 20):
"Fine. I'm giving you one more chance. What are you going to perform?" (Go back to 'handy-high kick', 'sing', 'Illusion magic', 'jokes', 'thief', and 'see myself out' choices)
  • Sorry, I've made a mistake. I'll leave.: (See 'My mistake. I'm leaving' choice below)
(If your Acrobatics ≥ 55 with a 70% chance of success OR your Acrobatics ≥ 100):
"[You leap up and down, kicking as high as you can. One of the guards even borrows you his shield, so you can dance on it as is tradition. The guests cheer at your acrobatic performance.]"
  • Continue:
"That was extraordinary, %PCName! You are truly talented! Thank you so very much for such a wonderful present. Please accept this gold. An artist such as yourself deserves to be paid. And of course you can stay and enjoy the party!" (Disposition +40, and you receive 75 gold)
  • I'm going to sing for you.:
"You have a song for me? How exciting. Let's get you a lute, too, so you can accompany yourself with it! The stage is yours."
  • Continue:
(If your Speechcraft < 60):
"[You pluck the strings of the lute whilst trying to remember a song that would fit the situation. The only one that comes to your mind is bawdy sea shanty. You are about to start singing it when your voice cracks pitifully. Your audience doesn't look too impressed.]"
  • Continue: (See 'Awful, simply awful!' response above)
(If your Speechcraft ≥ 60 with an 80% chance of success OR your Speechcraft ≥ 100):
"[Plucking the strings of the lute you improvise new lyrics to a well-known sea shanty. Your audience joins in on the last chorus. Some of them are moved to tears.]"
  • Continue: (See 'That was extraordinary...' response above)
  • I'm going to do some Illusion magic tricks for you.:
"Magic? I love magic! Ooh! Ooh! Turn me invisible!"
  • Continue:
(If your Illusion < 40):
"[You try to cast an improvised invisibility spell on Ruma Soanix. Absolutely nothing happens to her. Your audience isn't impressed.]"
  • Continue: (See 'Awful, simply awful!' response above)
(If your Illusion ≥ 40 with a 70% chance of success OR your Illusion ≥ 100):
"[You successfully cast a spell on Ruma Soanix momentarily turning her invisible. Apparently your audience isn't very well versed in the arcane arts, because your simple trick wows everyone in the room. As Ruma Soanix turns back to visible she has the biggest smile on her face.]"
  • Continue: (See 'That was extraordinary...' response above)
(If your Illusion ≥ 40 but you fail the 70% random chance check):
"[You try to cast an invisibility spell on Ruma Soanix. Absolutely nothing happens to her. However, her clothes vanish out of sight. Thankfully the spell's effect quickly wears off and the clothes become visible again, but the atmosphere of awkwardness remains.]"
  • Continue: (See 'Awful, simply awful!' response above)
  • I'm going to tell a couple of jokes.:
"Very well. The stage is yours."
  • Continue:
(If your Speechcraft < 70):
"[You start off with a knock-knock joke, but after that fails miserably you boldly make a controversial joke about cannibal Wood Elves. There's an awkward silence in the room. Thrangor, the Wood Elven guest, takes a long sip from his drink. Your audience isn't too impressed.]"
  • Continue: (See 'Awful, simply awful!' response above)
(If your Speechcraft ≥ 70 with a 95% chance of success OR your Speechcraft ≥ 100):
"[You start off with a deconstructionist knock-knock joke that pokes fun at the joke itself, which you immediately follow with a deadpan bit about Wood Elven cannibals. Thanks to your excellent comedic timing and the quality of your material, everyone bursts out laughing.]"
  • Continue: (See 'That was extraordinary...' response above)
  • I'm a thief and I steal things.: (See 'I'm here to steal...' choice below)
  • Actually, I'll just see myself out.: (See 'My mistake. I'm leaving' choice below)
  • My mistake. I'm leaving.:
"Not so fast! This is a private party. You had to trick the guard to get in here. You aren't here by accident. What are you hiding?" (Also see 'I'm here to steal...', 'I'm your friend, remember?', and 'I was hired to perform' choices)
  • I'm sorry. I just really, REALLY wanted to come to your party and meet you.:
(If your Luck < 75):
"That is creepy. I don't know want you in my party. Guards! Throw this trespasser out of my manor!" Goodbye (Disposition -10)
(If your Luck ≥ 75 with a 25% chance of success):
"Oh? I didn't realize I was THAT popular. I must have made quite an impression on you, %PCName... Very well then. You can stay. Enjoy the party." (Disposition +5)
  • That's none of your business.:
"You're under my roof, so it IS my business. I've had enough of you. Guards! Throw this trespasser out of my manor!" Goodbye (Disposition -10)
  • I'm here to steal the deed to your ship.:
"A thief! I knew it. I KNEW IT. Guards! Throw this law-breaking trespasser out!" Goodbye (Disposition -10)
(If you have met before):
"Excuse me, but what are you doing here, %PCName? This party was for invited guests only." (See identical choices above)
(If you have convinced her you're not a thief):
"I hope you're enjoying the party, %PCName."
(If you have given Uncle Savirienus Soanix a bottle of Vintage Colovian Battlewine):
"Oh no! Where did my uncle get that bottle of battlewine? That old drunkard... He's embarrassing me." Goodbye (Uncle Savirienus Soanix appears on the ground floor)
(If you have been found out as a thief):
"I want you out of my house! I won't let you ruin my birthday party!" Goodbye
