When you approach her:
- "Twelvane doesn't know if you can hear her, help is coming, Vanton."

- What's happening to Warlock Vanton?
- "He's trapped in a nightmare. A product of his own foolishness and arrogance. He decided to study a dangerous artifact, neglecting to use protective wards. Now Ansuul the Tormentor has him in her clutches. She won't let him wake."
- What does Ansuul want?
- "Ansuul can use Vanton's magical power to enter this realm. She must not succeed, but she's very strong. You will need many friends to defeat her.
Are you willing to journey into Vanton's mind and stop Ansuul? The Mages Guild will be in your debt." - I'll do it. How do I enter Vanton's mind?
- "Go to Vanton—the gateway is ready for you. Prepare yourself, but don't take too long. Ansuul's powers only affect his mind now. But if she escapes into this realm, her evil could infect all the waking world. Everything we hold dear is at stake."
You can ask her some questions before entering the trial.
- You seem fond of Vanton. What happened?
- "Nothing dramatic. We were students together. He's always been hard-headed, but his temperament soured with age. Vanton discovered that he detested anyone's company but his own.
No one besides Twelvane was saddened by Vanton's absence."

- Why save Vanton? Why not just trap Ansuul?
- "This one has two answers. First, it would be much better to stop Ansuul before she gains access to all of Vanton's power. After all, it's easier to keep a star in the sky than return it to its place after it's already fallen."
- And the other reason?
- "Because Ansuul needs to break Vanton to gain control. She's showing him horrors which have driven countless others to madness. Turning his own mind against him. Torturing him.
No one deserves that fate."
You'll see a vision of her appear near a burning Mages Guild hall after you pass the second group of trash mobs. She is swiftly cut down by Exarchanic Yaseyla.
- Wizard Twelvane: "Run, Vanton!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Come with me!"
- Exarchanic Yaseyla: "If it isn't the wizard, Twelvane. You deserve my personal attention."
She will appear at the end of the trial once Ansuul has been defeated.
- Wizard Twelvane: "That did it! Vanton's calmed down. His mind feels clearer, too!"
- Warlock Vanton: "Wizard Twelvane? But … you died. Or you were a tyrant …."
- Wizard Twelvane: "All of that was a nightmare, Vanton. Ansuul is gone."
- Warlock Vanton: "It felt … so real."
- Wizard Twelvane: "Even in dreams, our emotions are real. Rest. You'll feel better when you wake."
Vanton then falls asleep.
You must speak with Twelvane to end the quest.
- "This should settle our dreams … for a time, at least.
It remains to be seen if this truly destroyed Ansuul, but if she attempts to break another mage's mind we'll know who to call upon." - Is it over?
- "Vanton relaxed the moment Ansuul's presence departed. He's sleeping peacefully. This one doesn't know if Ansuul was killed—or if she can even be killed in her own nightmare. But her presence is gone from this room.
You saved us all. Thank you."
If you failed to pick up the quest at the beginning of the dungeon, you can give Twelvane an item looted from Ansuul's corpse to completed the quest. You'll loot the Vacant Dreamstone unless you completed Hard Mode, in which case you'll retrieve the Whispering Dreamstone.
Please, take this for your help." |
Here. Take this for your work." |
Thank you." |

You can speak to her after the quest.
- "Vanton's mind is yet unbroken. And this one felt Ansuul's presence retreat. You've done more than you know."
- What happens now?
- "Vanton will wake when he's ready. Twelvane doesn't know the extent of the damage Ansuul left behind, but she will help him however she can.
It may be a long time before Vanton can return to his duties." - How can you tell?
- "Does he seem like an arrogant and powerful mage to you? Even in his own mind, he second-guesses himself.
With Ansuul gone we can work on strengthening his resolve. But for Vanton, it may be a long time until the nightmare is over." - How are you going to help him?
- "There are healers of the mind. We'll send for one as soon as he awakens. The mind can be a surprisingly resilient thing.
For now, we'll support Vanton and do everything the healers say to help him get well. No matter how long that takes."

- What happened to Ansuul?
- "She's gone. This one doesn't know if you killed her or if she just retreated from Vanton's mind.
Ansuul will return if she can, but Twelvane will ensure the Dreamstone is carefully guarded. Ansuul won't surprise us again."
