Quick Walkthrough

1. Speak to Shenjirra on the road running south from Menaan about Shenjirra.
2. Agree to help free Shenjirra.
3. Either:
   • Unlock the cage door, then kill the guards.
   • Give Shenjirra a Scroll of Divine Intervention.
   • Pay the guards 200 gold to let the Khajiit go (Haggle check).
   • Persuade the guards that releasing Shenjirra is the morally right course of action (Debate check).
   • Threaten the guards into letting Shenjirra go (requires that you are level 30+).
   • As a member of House Hlaalu, order the guards to let Shenjirra go (requires rank of House Cousin or higher).
   • Lie, and say you are here to collect Shenjirra and either:
     1. Pay the guards 1,000 gold .
     2. Lie, and say they will be paid by the Hlaalu Treasury (Sway check).
   • Buy some time by feeding Shenjirra's Poisoned Rat Meat to the nixmount pulling the cart.
     1. Then find a way to do one of the above.

Debate, Haggle and Sway checks

Haggle, Debate and Sway checks are run on choosing certain dialogue options. All of them take into account your character's luck and fatigue, and you can increase your chances of success in any of them by having full fatigue when initiating the conversation. The checks similarly take into account the disposition of the target, with higher disposition increasing your chances of success. Each type of check also measures an attribute and a skill. Haggle measures Personality and Mercantile, Debate measures Intelligence and Speechcraft, and Sway measures Personality and Speechcraft. Characters with high stats in the relevant attribute and skill are more likely to succeed on the check.

Notes

• This quest is timed, and once you have received your first journal update on it, you will need to either free Shenjirra or else buy some time, otherwise the cart will disappear soon after you leave the area.
• If not able to unlock the door by other means, you can pickpocket or loot the Key to Shenjirra's Cage from the guards.

5	Finishes quest	Shenjirra, the Khajiit slave, asked me to help her go free. I decided not to get involved.
10		Shenjirra, the Khajiit slave, asked me to help her go free. I will need to find the key to her cage or pick its lock. In addition, the two cat-catchers need to be dealt with. The carriage will move soon, so if I need to buy some time, I should hear what Shenjirra has planned.
15		Shenjirra gave me a piece of poisoned rat meat. She told me that if I give it to the nix-mount drawing the carriage, it will buy us some time.
20		The cat-catchers' nix-mount is dead. The carriage isn't moving anywhere any time soon. I can now leave this site and come back later, when I'm better prepared.
25		I convinced the cat-catchers to let Shenjirra come with me. I should let her know.
40		The cat-catchers are dead. I should speak with Shenjirra.
50		I told Shenjirra to follow me. We should travel together until we're far away enough from the cat-catchers.
60	Finishes quest	I gave Shenjirra a Divine Intervention scroll, so she could escape. She gave me the Andas Estate slave key, which she used to escape. I could use it to help the other slaves back in Bal Foyen.
70		The slavers are behind us. I should speak with Shenjirra.
80	Finishes quest	Shenjirra thanked me for helping her. She gave me the Andas Estate slave key, which she used to escape. I could use it to help the other slaves back in Bal Foyen.
90	Finishes quest	Shenjirra is dead.
100	Finishes quest	I left the slavers' carriage behind me.
