The last time I was nominated, I was told to wait about a month. So, I waited and here I am. :) I would like to inform everyone that with my job becoming much more stable, I will remain active for the foreseeable future, and even on times where I don't make edits, I check the wiki nearly every day. I was also nominated over a year ago, but was refused, primarily on the grounds of I barely met the requirements. ~ Ad intellige ^(talk) 05:05, 16 July 2014 (GMT)

• Oppose: I feel like a broken record opposing this nomination every time it comes around, but I really think Dominus is pushing this nomination before he's really ready for it. A good deal of his newer edits have been minor changes to talk pages, such as marking them unsigned and updating old links, which is fine, although it makes it tough to get a handle on his content edits. Some of his edits are also of the kind that I wouldn't expect patroller applicants to have made so recently, such as marking forum posts unsigned rather than removing them or changing an embed link to the URL when nothing was wrong with the embed link. Some of my private discussions with him have also given me the impression that when he doesn't understand the rationale behind a certain policy, he's quicker to challenge edits in line with that policy rather than to try and understand why the edits were made.

None of these are capital crimes, obviously; we all make errors like these when we're relatively new. I bring them up to illustrate the point that Dominus is still learning, and I feel that giving him full patroller rights while he's still learning would not only be a mistake for the wiki, but also for his growth as an editor. I think you have a lot of potential, Dom, and I hope you continue to stay around the wiki and learn. You've been significantly more active in the last 3 weeks, and if you can continue to learn and keep that level of activity, I would be glad to approve this nomination in 3 months. • Oppose: While Dominus has become more active on the wiki since his last nomination, I still don't think he is quite ready to be a patroller. Looking at his edits since his last nomination, most of them have been minor edits, undo's, and replies on talk pages. These are all great things as they are some of the more common edits that patrollers have to make or patrol and having a good understanding of these types of edits will make him a better patroller. However, while Dominus shows that he understands how to make these types of edits, I am unable to determine if his content edits are at the same high level of quality that the previously mentioned minor edits are. I'm not suggesting that he should have to be revamping articles or de-stubbing pages, but seeing some smaller content edits (aside from spelling, wording, spacing, etc.) from him would help me know if he is ready to become a patroller. Even if he does not make too many content edits himself, it is still important for him to have an understanding of them so he will be able to make the necessary changes to them in order to mark them as patrolled. If Dominus makes some more content edits and demonstrates an understanding of them more clearly, I think he will have then shown that he more than deserves a spot on the team. Consensus: Oppose. Although the number of votes is very limited, nominations have been closed with consensus on only two votes before—albeit not since the early days of the wiki. I feel the points raised here should not be ignored and despite the fact that it's summer, which is usually a time of decreased activity, I think the lack of votes is itself an indication that Dominus either isn't well known enough or that people are ambiguous about the nomination. – Robin Hood  ^(talk) 14:24, 5 August 2014 (GMT)

Over a year ago, Dominus was nominated for patroller and most of the objections stemmed from the fact that he barely met the qualifications. I think we're long past that point now, and Dominus has a history of making some very good edits to a wide variety of articles. In addition, he is courteous and has shown that he can handle conflict well. I think he's overdue to become one of the site's patrollers at this point.

• Comment: In truth, I hadn't noticed that myself or I would have suggested you wait. As Silencer says, there have been times when we've overlooked minimal voting when some issue was found and the nomination was withdrawn before "significant" voting occurred. • Oppose: For much the same reasons as I opposed the nomination last time, I don't think it's appropriate to give patroller status to someone who's been inactive for so much of his time here. As the late Elliot said, this is a wiki where you really need to spend more than the minimal amount of time before you're ready to be a patroller. I haven't noticed any problems with his edits, but the last time he was nominated, concerns were raised that nobody could be sure he was in it for the long haul, and those concerns were validated by the inactivity that occurred shortly after. If Dominus can demonstrate a consistent pattern of good edits for the next few months, I might be willing to support the next nomination, but until we can be sure he's in it for the long haul, I can't in all good conscience support this. ThuumofReason

A few months ago, I was nominated for this position, but I declined based on some personal factors external to the wiki which were negatively impacting the quality of my editing. These factors made me feel uncomfortable accepting the position at the time, but now that said factors are no longer in place and I have more time to devote to the wiki, I would like to put my name forward again.

As I don't plan on purchasing ESO any time soon, most of my activity would be relating to the three games I'm most familiar with: Skyrim, Oblivion, and Daggerfall. I also can't promise I'd be as active as some of our other patrollers, but I do try to spend at least a little time reviewing recent changes every day. I'm also making more of an effort to not haphazardly butt in to projects I'm unfamiliar with (which I attribute to the aforementioned personal factors). A year ago, I would have opposed a nomination because of your... rough interactions with other users, but you've definitely become a lot more friendly with users. • Support: I've patrolled Thuum's edits for awhile now, and they almost never need any major fixes, adjustments, tweaks, etc. so I don't have any issue with his edits being autopatrolled. I've seen Thuum's rough interactions in a few past discussions, but these were ages ago and I haven't seen anything but friendly help and advice in recent times. • Support: Thuum is an excellent editor that has been editing for quite some time now and clearly has a strong understanding of the site's policies and style. From what I have seen with his interactions with other users, he has always been very courteous and friendly so I think he sets a good example of how to properly interact with others on the wiki. As for the patrolling side of things, Thuum seems to already be doing the job quite well and giving him the ability to patrol Daggerfall edits (along with his own edits becoming autopatrolled) will be beneficial since not too many of us are knowledgeable about that game. I admit that when I first joined, I did have some difficulties in this regard, and I was quick to judge the mistakes of others who weren't familiar with proper editing procedures. For the last year and a half, I've made a conscious effort to be patient rather than judgmental when explaining things, as patient explanations from senior editors were what allowed me to learn when I was new. WoahBro

With ESO coming out in a handful of days, all hands will be focused on handling the editing surge that comes with the release of any new title. I'd like to do one of my rare nominations, and put forward WoahBro to be the newest addition to the ranks of Patroller. He's a hardworking editor who's been busting his butt working on MWOP, and doing various other things, and he's regularly available in IRC to chat with. In addition to the invaluable help patrolling the Recent Changes that a new patroller would bring us after the release, it would also free our focus on him and his MWOP work to get ESO stuff done if we had his edits autopatrolled. It's a good thing all around to accept him as new patroller.

Hargrimm

Hargrimm has been editing for a while and I have never once found issue with his edits. He has also been quite active in both the Lore and Online namespaces, both of which are likely to see a large amount of traffic in the next month or so with the upcoming release of Elder Scrolls Online. He knows what he is doing, and isn't afraid to take on hard or complex projects. He also is quite active in IRC, which means he is easy to contact in case anything goes wrong. Also, he is a nice person :P. I think he would be perfect as a Patroller.

I'm currently on vacation without my editing references and tools this week, so I haven't been quite as active as usual the past couple days, but I still check RC as often as I can! I know this self-nomination will probably come as a surprise to some, and seem bold to others. But it has been my desire ever since I joined the wiki to become a patroller and I hope to reach that dream today. That being said I am sure there will be a plethora of questions and I will do my best to anticipate them all in this nomination.

• Yes, my activity on the wiki diminished. There were personal matters that kept me occupied and I was unable to devote as much time to the wiki. Those are resolved; I am prepared to be fully active again.
• Yes, I had an account which was blocked. However I feel that I have rebuilt enough trust within this community to properly fill the patroller "shoes".
• No, I have not made very many large content-heavy edits. I am better with small grammar and style edits. I am not opposed to diving in game for fact-checking, though, and I am learning my way around CSList and the various Construction tools to be of some use.
• There are a few things that I can offer as a patroller:

1. I have solid knowledge of wiki mark-up and style
2. I have (nigh) impeccable grammar and spelling
3. I can approach delicate situations with both tact and courtesy
4. I have a general feel for the patrolling process thanks to my time as a User Patroller.
5. I frequent the IRC channel, and thus am easily reached by any user.
6. I learn and adapt to new situations quickly!

• Finally, I feel that being given this opportunity will help me grow as an editor and as a person and enable me to better serve the wiki.

I do hope that this is enough to convince you all that I am qualified for this position. I am willing to answer any further questions publicly or privately (depending on what you prefer). Also, while I hope for support from everyone, I will not take it personally if you feel I am unprepared.

• Support: I worried that I might have too much bias in voting here, but I thoroughly checked his edits and am satisfied with them. While there have been very few content edits since August of last year, the edits before then (and since then, few as they are) show that he's familiar with wiki syntax, grammar, and content. With ESO coming up, we'll need lots of patrollers around, and I believe that Nocte can help out with this, since his activity will be more frequent. I would have preferred to wait and see how his activity will increase, but he'll probably do fine, I think, and I'd rather have him as a patroller before ESO than to wait another three months and miss the start of ESO. • Support: My first thought was "definitely yes", but I then decided to check his recent edits. What I see does give me a little bit of reservation, based on the somewhat low number of namespace edits and the lack of recent activity. He has made only 1 edit of substance since 20 December 2013, and that one was just a single word choice change. Based on this, he doesn't meet the Suggested Qualification of watching the Recent Changes, but this is only a suggested qualification, not a requirement. I'm going to support this nomination because, based on my experience with Nocte and the content edits he has made, he will make a good patroller, and he meets the qualifications. • Support: I nearly opposed this nomination simply because Nocte had the gall to ask me on our iMessages thread to vote for him when I was describing my escapades in Kerbal Space Program... He's met the qualifications to hold the position, and we will have an editing surge as newbies flood the site to give and receive ESO knowledge, and his eyes on the pages wouldn't hurt, especially since I typically see only a small handful of those who used to be here patrolling still around these days. And, in regards to his history, I feel like he's more than made amends for what he's done and it's something behind him that at this point shouldn't really harm his chances as a staffer to the site, given his cooperation and friendliness since then.
