Quick Walkthrough

1. Talk to Harelia for your duties.
2. Go downstairs to grab the research notes and return them to Harelia.
3. Go to Taurus Hall and retrieve Harelia's package.
4. Return to Harelia with her package or 6 diamonds.

Getting duties

After joining the Hammerfell Mages Guild in Dragonstar, Eranthos tells you to talk to Harelia for your first duties, she can be found at the top floor of the Guild of Mages. When talking to Harelia about duties she asks you to fetch her research notes from downstairs, they should be lying on a table, grab them and return them to Harelia. When you return the notes to Harelia she'll tell you about some research that she was doing that got taken by some people from Taurus Hall and she wants you to get it back. If you fail to get the research, she'll also take 6 diamonds so she can start anew.

Impounded research

Go to the Taurus Hall, you can find it a little bit southeast of Dragonstar. To get to the Fort you'll need to go to Dragonstar East and exit through the southeastern gate. Once you pass the city gate cross the bridge and you should see the Taurus Hall, enter the Taurus Hall, Interior. Inside you is commander Veros, you can talk to him about the research but he isn't going to give it to you. There are a few ways to get the research, you can either;

• Bribe Veros and once your disposition hits 80 he will believe you on your word, he'll tell you to go downstairs and tell the jailer, Paratius Barbula, to give you the package.
• Bribe Paratius Barbula downstairs and once your disposition hits 70, you can give him 100 gold and he'll give you the package.
• Upstairs behind a locked door you can find a letter implication Veros is dealing in illegal travel papers, confront him with the letter and he'll trade the package for your silence, go get it from Paratius Barbula downstairs.
• Or you could just steal it if you have a high Sneak level, it is right behind the jailer downstairs, Paratius Barbula.

Return the package

Once you have the package or 6 diamonds, return to Harelia in the Guild of Mages and return the package or the diamonds to her, she'll thank you and give you 70 gold for your troubles, if you returned the package you'll also raise your disposition by 10 with Harelia. Talk about duties again if you are ready for your next orders.

30		I spoke with the commander at Taurus Hall and asked to reclaim the research. He told me he would not give it to me.
40		After some persuasion, the commander at Taurus Hall agreed to return the package containing Harelia's research. The jailer downstairs will let me reclaim the research.
41		I bribed the jailer to let me reclaim the research.
42		I have found a letter in the commander's quarters at Taurus Hall implicating him in trading favors for Dragonstar travel papers.
43		I confronted the commander at Taurus Hall with evidence incriminating him. He agreed to return the package containing Harelia's research, on the condition that I keep quiet about his guilt. The jailer downstairs will let me reclaim the research.
50		I was able to reclaim the research from Taurus Hall.
100	Finishes quest	I delivered the research materials to Harelia at the Mages Guild.
110	Finishes quest	I gave Harelia six diamonds, allowing her to restart her research.
